Why does it seem impossible for folks to wait for true love? A love created by love {God}...
He's the only one who knows what's best for us, as we continue to get impatient with our singleness and lack of a mate to call our own.
Don't we realize that it takes more than sex to keep a mate? It takes more than good looks, pretty eyes, dimples, and a built figure to keep someone. All of that stuff should just be considered as the "cherry on top."
What about genuine companionship and intimacy? <--Don't get it twisted. Intimacy doesn't have to involve sex.
What about good conversation, complete with healthy debates?
What about a mate who would push you to be better? Someone to help unravel your purpose and set you on the course for your destiny?
What about someone who would push you to have a closer relationship with God? Someone that would be readily available for biblical discussion and other spiritual convo?
How about someone you could have some legit fun with? **And until marriage, your definition of fun shouldn't include getting freaky in any and every place imaginable.**
I've just seen too many people awaken love before its time. Too many folks have altered their own lives with the consequences of engaging in sex before marriage. Waiting and saving yourself until marriage is God's plan, and it's the best one out there. You will save yourself a lot of heartache, grief, and disappointment. Not everyone has your best interests at heart. Some are only around for that 1 t h i n g. And as soon as you let them get a taste, they're on to the next one...while you're left with broken emotions.
I'm not bashing anyone who's had or is engaging in premarital sex. It's your life and your choices. And as Dr. Phil would say, "How's that workin' for you?"
Perhaps the fabulous Lauryn Hill can better explain this issue...
Nice piece.
