Have you ever been on a bus? I don't mean a school bus but like a public or city bus?
Well my first semester in college at VCU I didn't have my car on campus so me and a couple others caught the bus to go to a shopping center. One thing I learned about catching the bus is that it can be REALLY frustrating. The schedule gives you a heads up on what time to expect it but impatience can rise up if the time has arrived and there's still no sign of the bus. You're waiting around wondering if you're in the right place. You're checking the schedule every few minutes wondering if you read it right.
Yea, pretty frustrating. Especially when you've already mapped out your plans right?? You want to do this by this time and get that done by that time but that doggone bus seems to be delayed! Finally you're fed up and decide, "you know what? I'm just going to catch the next bus that comes. This is taking too long!" So here comes another bus. You hop on ready to go wherever it takes you because you are done waiting. It smells a little, it's dirty and extra crowded but any bus is better than no bus right?
You get off the bus and look around not knowing where you are. "Wait this doesn't look familiar. Ugh! This ruins my plans!" You take out the schedule to look for another bus that will take you back to where you started. It finally arrives so you get on. The bus begins to back fire and then a tire blows out so the driver pulls over. It needs repairs and it takes a while to get everything straight, which further delays where you're going. You finally make it back to where you started. You're waiting and waiting, wondering why your bus still hasn't arrived. You decide to ask someone, "Do you know where Bus number 33 is? I've been expecting it for a while now." And the person says, "It was about 10 mins late earlier but it's already come and gone."
Talk about impatience right? Now instead of a bus, picture a relationship. Most people have in their minds when they want to have things done. They want to get married by this age and have children by that age but there's one thing missing, that doggone "bus." So some people "catch" the next thing that comes. Yeah they don't really seem to be going in the same direction you're going. They kind of look like what you were expecting if you squint your eyes and tilt you head to the side. They have potential right? It's better than waiting. You have plans remember!!!
But what happens? You go on this journey. And things don't really seem right. They have more baggage than you thought. Spiritually things start to get a little crowded and it just doesn't "smell" right. You end up at a place that's unfamiliar that you had no desire to go. Next thing you know everything back fires and things go flat and you find yourself on the road going back to where you just came from. Only thing is now your "bus" has come and gone and someone else took your seat.
Patience is a virtue. Just because someone presents themselves and gives you butterflies, doesn't mean they're for you. It's important to be in position. Impatience is not of God and is used my the enemy to get you off course. You'll find yourself either going in the wrong direction or no direction at all. The RIGHT one should take you to a place that's closer to where you're trying to go. Don't catch the first thing coming because yours seems delayed. You'll run off the right one preoccupied with the wrong one! Although no one is perfect, you won't have to give them directions. "Buses" know where they're going right?
If you find yourself having to explain the route, having to change the direction its going, having to clean it out, change the tires, replace the engine, or even get out to push it, GET OFF. You're on the wrong bus and the driver is the only one who can successfully do those things. (God) Too many people settle out of impatience, desperation, insecurities, etc. It's important to know what you deserve and focus on where you're going. God is the destination! And if your "bus" doesn't get you closer to the destination then that "trip" is out of order and you're taking the wrong route. GET OFF or be further delayed.
Candice already knows how I am. I have permission to call her out if I ever feel like she's settling lol But I've chosen not to obsess over MY plans. God will drive the bus in my direction whenever it lines up to HIS schedule. And I plan on having my front seat! :-)
